Lyrics:

I See The Blue Breaking Through | Song # 401 | 10/7/09

Now what? We begin to begin again
Now that the rain has decided to end
And our hearts are certainly on the mend

(Can you comprehend?)

How good it feels to look up and see
Blue sky begin to break through and The
Clouds of grey beginning to blow away

Gravity. Sometimes drags you down
Relax. Stretch out upon the ground
Look up. And watch the blue break through

Refrain:
I see the blue breaking through
Do you catch a glimpse of it too?
What’s it like to be brand new?

I can’t say I knew it would work this way
Had a moment when I had to keep fear at bay
But at the end of a very long day

(I have to say we found a way)
To have fun while we got the job done
And I want to thank everyone
Who joined in and helped us with our play
(hip hip hooray)

Refrain:

So what’s next?
Where do we go from here?
Climb with me up to where the air is clear
And watch the blue break through for you…

Refrain

Kenya Dream | 11/23/09 | Song # 404

Dedicated to Kenya K. Stevens, Goddess

Kenya Dream
Can you Dream of dreaming?
Can you Dream of dreaming
Something wild and true and wonderful

Kenya Dream
Can you dream of loving?
Can you dream of loving
Something out into the world?

Kenya Dream
Can you dream of living?
Can you dream of living
In the magic of the dawning day?

Kenya Dream
Can you dream of dancing?
Can you dream of dancing
Out beyond the rules that others make?

Refrain:
You call me Home you call me home
To the open spaces we all come from
You call me Home you call me home
From heart of the womb of the world
Kenya dream. Kenya dream.
Kenya dream. Kenya dream

Kenya dream
Can you dream of healing
can you dream of healing
More than what was causing pain

Kenya dream
Can you dream of holding
Can you dream of holding all
That’s good and true and wise

Kenya dream
Can you dream of seeing
Can you dream of seeing me
With more than just your eyes

Refrain:

Kenya dream.
Can you dream of laughter?
Can you dream of laughter
That reminds the stars to shine?

Kenya dream.
Can you dream of silence
Can you dream of silence
That preceded every sound

Kenya dream.
Can you dream of singing
Can you dream of singing that
Will consecrate this holy ground

Refrain:

Kenya feel
Can you feel the movement
Can you feel the movement
Of the light between your sighs

Kenya breathe
Can you breathe the power
Can you breathe the power
Of the force between your thighs

Kenya love
Can you love the loving
Can you love the loving
That empowers you to be the light

Refrain:

Commentary: I met Kenya K. Stevens on twitter and she immediately made a deep impression on me. She and her husband are tantra coaches and specialize in healing and manifesting. Kenya is delightfully open about sexuality and sensuality as well as the art and science of balancing and integrating the masculine and feminine. For her the womb is something more than just an organ for reproduction it is a powerful center of manifesting and attracting. Anyway, we met on Twitter and spoke by phone. I happened to be in New York City in November and we met for lunch at her apartment in the shadow of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. She explained the work and philosophy behind her work. It was a joyful meeting of souls. and on the way home this song came in. After you listen to the song check out her site: www.JuJuMama.net

If I Could Fly | Song #400 | 09/09/09

If I could fly I would take wing and leave the earth behind
And everything that seems so huge now would disappear below me…
If I could sing, I would breathe in and shine the sound out loud
Till it breaks the hills apart and grinds the mountains down

Sometimes your feet seem to know exactly where they want to go…
And it’s wise to let your body follow, follow, follow…
Sometimes your heart seems to want what the world does not allow
And there are those who advise you to leave your best fields fallow

Refrain:

I just want to run to the edge and leap into the sky
I just want to float like a red tail hawk up so damn high
That you can’t see me any more…You can’t see me any more
You can’t see me any more from the valley floor…
I may be gone but my song remains

I could be the rain on the window while you’re Dreaming of a sunny day…
I could be the tear on your pillow as you lie there half awake
You can think of me if you want as some kind of mistake
But I know what it feels like to have your heart break

It seems I walk on roads that prefer me to walk alone
Even though I long for a traveling companion
And I find myself an edge that invites me to look over
And see the valley with its toy town spread out far below…

Refrain:

[Solo]

I live by the grace of something that’s true but hard to fathom
And it demands that I dance along the ridge above the chasm
I don’t always keep my balance but I always do my best
And I have to trust in Something Else to handle all the rest…

Refrain:

Commentary:

It had been a really rough patch for me…financially, emotionally. And I found myself living in this incredibly beautiful little town in upstate New York. There were hills and valleys. Just like in life. From the ridges you can look down into these tiny toy towns with tiny cars and trucks. If you’re lucky a red tail hawk will soar over head. It just made me want to fly. Just like a thunderstorm releases pent up energy in the atmosphere, after this song came through, I felt tremendous relief and empowerment. All of a sudden I was ready for new experiences and new relationships. I’d love to know what it brings up for you. Please leave a comment below!

Everybody Goes Home | Song# 97 | 12/04/1987

Everybody looks outside their window
Everybody opens closet doors
Everybody wonders what they were put here for
We leave footprints in the snow

I never do expect to see a unicorn
But I would like to watch my children grow
Gie me a dime, give me a dozen roses
Give me the echoes of the hunter’s horn

Refreain:
Every body goes Home
Everybody goes Home
Every body goes Home
Everybody goes Home

I had an idea but I lost it in infinity
It passed me by and did not pity me
I could be here or I could be there…or somewhere
You can either liver or you can sit and stare

Refrain:

Drown my eyes in fields of blazing daffodils
Float me scarcely on a summer breeze
Cauterize my aching heart
And teach me how to breathe!

Refrain:

Everybody looks outside their window
Everybody opens closet doors
Everybody wonders what they were put here for
Me? I leave footprints in the snow

Commentary: I wrote this song around the time my grandmother passed away over the age of 100 and a young friend of mine David Solar died in a car accident barely 20 years old. Our lives are so fragile and so temporary yet we live as if we have plenty of time. We don’t. Savor every moment. Do what you most love to do. Spend time with those you most want to be with. Remember to breathe.

Walk Through Roses

Added this music video last week to ModernJedi.com because it embodies some key concepts I teach in my NLP trainings. Although I’ve already shared just the audio with you on this site, I thought you might enjoy the music video as well as my NLP students. Please leave a comment below or share with someone who could use a positive message today. It’s from my Eyes On The Horizon CD

Commentary: Why this is an “NLP Song”: One of the key concepts of NLP is that of Focus. You can focus on what you want or focus on what you don’t want. The problem with focusing on what you don’t want is it sends a message to your unconscious mind to give you that. For example: Don’t think of a blue tree! What happens? Bet you thought of a blue tree right? One of the questions we ask our clients who often have a long list of what they don’t want is….

“What DO you want?” So that’s what this song is about.

Please let me know what you think.

Coming Home 3/31/92 | Revised 9/30/02 | Song #165

Have you been stumbling through frozen winter fields,
Running from the shadows of the wounds that would not heal?
Have you been like the children who live on what they steal?
Are you open to the wisdom that your pain just might reveal?

Refrain:
It’s been a long time that I’ve been gone
It’s been a long time that you’ve been gone
It’s been a long time that we’ve been gone
I believe we’re coming Home

I invite you to a higher trance
Where the rhythms fill your body and remind you how to dance
Where healing hands can hold you and help release the hurt
Where you can re-create yourself with your thoughts and words

Refrain:

You are chosen to live within the Light
And I was born to tell you that it is yours by birthright
I may be a healer, but it’s time for you to see
You are just as much a healer, a healer as me…

Refrain: (X2)

Commentary: this song reflects work I was doing in the late 80’s and 90’s healing my life. I was struggling on many fronts. Physically, I was exhausted and seemed to be unable to digest my food properly. Emotionally I was full of anger, sadness, fear, shame…you name it I was getting clobbered by it. I could not for the life of me seem to be able to do anything significant with my music. Couldn’t perform it or sell it or market it or anything. So I began to study Energy Healing with a woman named Mearah Marqua who was one of Barbara Brennon’s first students. I studied with her and a group of other people seeking to heal their lives one weekend a month. Slowly things began to change. First of course they fell apart even more! Eventually, step by step (always taking way longer than I wanted :o ) the healing began and the thriving and joy followed. This song is dedicated to a friend of mine who found me on twitter who is recovering from a serious auto accident… please share this link with anyone you know who may need some healing support. Thanks for listening! Mark

I’m A Rich Man | 4/8/09 | Song # 395

I don’t have a lot of money at the moment in the bank
But I am so abundant that I easily give thanks
I got a soft, warm bed to sleep in and a roof over my head
Got fresh cream for my coffee and butter for my bread
Well the sky is free for breathing and the ground is free to walk
I got a voice for singing and words with which to talk

I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man
I’m a rich man ‘cause I have you for friend.

I’ve got the sun to warm my body and the moon to soothe my eyes
Every day that passes helps to make me realize
Life is full of moments that we sometimes do not notice
The blossom of a dandelion rivals any lotus
There is so much wealth around us, abundance that surrounds us
That sometimes it’s a challenge to maintain our focus

I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man
I’m a rich man ‘cause I have you for friend.

When things don’t go as planned we can shout out our demands
Shake our fist at heaven or Uncle Sam
But good times ebb and flow it’s impossible to know
What you’ll reap before you ever sow
So patience my dear friend we will break if we don’t bend
This is the beginning not the end!

I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man
I’m a rich man ‘cause I have you for friend.

Well the world is full of magic and the world is full of pain
Learn the lessons from the tragic or repeat it all again
We never know who we will meet as we move through our days
All I know is it’s a treat to share the path with you a ways
Well this song may be too simple and it may be too sweet
But this song helped me through a day when I was in defeat

I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man, I’m a rich man
I’m a rich man ‘cause I have you for friend.

20th Anniversary of Berlin Wall Fall

It was the Fall of 1989 and there were increasing demonstrations at the Berlin Wall. In the second week of November it started coming down. At the same time a friend was doing a documentary about the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC. The contrast got me to thinking about walls. Good walls and bad walls, walls that hold us and walls that divide us int two… well watch the video. Lyrics are below. Please share this with as many people as you can. Thanks! – Mark

Walls   | Song# 143  |  11/22/1989

There are good walls and bad walls
Walls that hold us and walls that divide us in two
There are walls that shatter our grand illusions
And walls that obstruct the view
There are walls as old as Gilgamesh
And there are walls with fresh new paint
There are walls that stretch a thousand miles
And walls that can make a grown man faint….

Refrain:
There’s a wall in Washington filled with names
Of loved ones who have gone
And there’s a wall in East Berlin, crumbling now
May we dance together on its remains

There’s a silence bigger than a prairie sky
In a darkness cut with stars
There’s a child singing her own sweet tune
As she learns to question why

Refrain:

There are dreams we’ve lived and dreams we’ve lost
And hope that refuses to die
And around the world the Watchman’s fires
Send sparks dazzling into the sky

Refrain:

And as the new year gathers nigh
We rise to sing Auld Lang Syne
Lest old acquaintance be forgot
Let’s sing it out one more time
